Deck Beasts is a mobile deck-builder in which you collect creatures with powers in order to create teams of three that synergize in interesting ways. The game also has a rogue-like aspect to it with a procedurally generated map that you'll have to go through.

GAMEFEEL AND JUICE

One of the inspirations for this game was Balatro, and particularly the way that the gamefeel is made in Balatro, with animations, particle effects and overall, a lot of movement in game elements.

I tried to implement as best as i could, a lot of those juicy elements, to make the combos more gratifying.

GAME DESIGN

I wanted to have some interestiong systems on which i could build the powers of the different creatures.

Once i came up with those systems, i then had to find around 50 interesting powers that could build up on each other to provide interesting combos.

I also added boss battles to add some more interest in encounters.

PIXEL ART

For this project, i wanted to practice a bit of pixel art. So i did around 50 sprites of various creatures and more sprites for decors and UI.

I also did some pixel art shaders to give life to those creatures and their effects.
